Great stay - mattresses are very comfortable, rooms & bathrooms are clean, place is updated, everyone was helpful. My a/c wasn’t cooling ideally but it wasn’t a huge deal. They have great lounging areas throughout the hotel downstairs, and the rooms are spacious.
I would suggest checking on the location of your room in the building if it’s a weekend night, as there is a bar next door that can be heard late into the night. I was able to sleep through it but, if you’re a light sleeper, ask to be on the opposite side of the hotel. I didn’t, however, hear the town square music from my interior room, which was an issue at my previous hotel.
I didn’t stay long enough to use the pool or have breakfast, so no comments on those.
Comparatively, I had friends staying up the street for 4 times the cost for the particular night (Juma Opera) with broken a/c, so it happens. They said it was beautiful otherwise. I stayed at another hotel for a night as well (casa de perpetua), which was loud- and weekend bands go late, even on Sunday. I had an exterior room, so maybe that was the issue of the extent of the volume heard in my room.
Hotel do Bispo is perfect and more than what you’ll expect for the ~100 USD/nt. A perfect place to sleep and have a clean, hot shower.
