10/10 Exceptional

Heaps of history in a beautiful setting, the staff really make the hotel special and it is clear a lot of thought has gone into selecting them.

8/10 Very good

Beautiful atmosphere

We had the pleasure of staying here for a family wedding. Check in was straightforward, friendly and helpful staff as well. The hotel room was very clean and quiet, the only downside is the creaking floorboards, but the beds were super comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and love the fact that there is a restaurant and bar on the premises with a spacious breakfast area as well.

8/10 Very good

My stay was comfortable. The internal movement from the room to restaurant or bar is not very clear. Also the hotel sign is not there on the main road. It would help. Overall the hotel is good.

8/10 Very good

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good - big choice. Our room was a bit cramped with not enough storage and the bathroom was very small.

Steak room has been broken for weeks now! Rooms are dusty and hot
Lewis, 2-night trip

Doesn't deliver

Although the main house is beautiful, and has character, the accommodation blocks have the feel of a low security prison. Very unwelcoming, poor/non-existent signage of room numbers and the bed is too short for a 6'1" adult.

mews building like an office block

the estate is stunning however we had rooms in the mews block, more like an office annex. 33.5 degrees room was like a sweat box. Good job the shower was powerful...
Victoria, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

Room was like a youth hostel, tiny, sweltering and walls were paper thin (we were woken up by next rooms alarm clock). We booked breakfast but it was chaos, in the end we managed to find a table but had to clean the table and get our own cutlery and cups. The small number of staff were difficult to get hold of. I mentioned this when checking out and was told the duty manager would contact me; they didn't. The pool area was nice albeit steam room and jacuzzi were closed...

Room was very tried, very dark with terrible lightening and not very clean.

Lovely little place; great value for the room and facilities. And a short taxi into Chesham or Amersham.

Such a beautiful hotel with stunning views. Only slight downside was that on the day we stayed it was 31 degrees and the room was rather hot Would happily stay again though :)

10/10 Exceptional

Lovely hotel with a stately home feel. Stayed for 3 nights whilst working in Chesham and ate in the restaurant each night. The menu is very good although quiet pricey, however there is a bar area with separate menu which is also very good.
Peter, 3-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Really lovely old hotel, with a wonderful history if you’re interested in spy’s and the world wars. Food and decoration is great and the luxury wash products make everything smell wonderful. Open kitchen, a breakfast that’s worth the whole stay. The roads in are difficult if you don’t usually drive single tracks so opt to go in and out towards Milton Keynes as they are slightly easier to navigate or better for expensive cars and wheels. Check your route first as it was about 2 miles of single track roads. Well worth the stay swimming pool was brilliantly maintained and very clean. Sauna and spa were set at a good temperature and again very clean.

One night stopover

Very well looked after for a huge older property, a few cobwebs here and there but overall very good. Very characterful place with a strong historic atmosphere. Staff all very freindly and attentive, Sarah on reception a delight . Comfy and spacious bar, didnt eat in the evening but breakfast was very good. Good bed, decent linen, peaceful night. Shower over bath was a bit trickey, but once your balance has adjusted and you wait 4 mins for the hot to come thro' ( my room probably 200 m from the boiler !) there was plenty of hot water A lovely place to stay , i will stop off there again

Lovely Hotel

Stayed for one night over Christmas and had a fab time, really friendly and helpful staff who couldn't do enough for us. Our rooms 1 x Double and 1 x Twin were both spotlessly clean and tastefully furnished. The Hotel is set beautiful grounds and was perfect for a fresh air walk. They even provided a dog basket for our Labrador, as well as a toy for him to keep. The only minor negative would be the condition of the changing rooms for the gym and pool that were a tad grubby, unlike the rest of the hotel which was immaculate. Breakfast was good with a reasonable range of hot and cold options available. On the whole, I would thoroughly recommend this Hotel.
