Run down hotel with inexperienced staff
One of my worst hotel experiences. We had a one night stay booked as we were attending a local music event, and we were meeting with some friends also going to the same event. On arrival our room was not ready so we decided to get a drink. We ordered from the menu, but the girl behind the bar clearly had very little experience of knowledge of bar work and expected us to know which of the wines she showed us was the one we ordered. When our friends ordered a bottle of wine later, she asked which size we wanted, was it medium!
All 6 of our group then ordered food at the bar. Four plates arrived after about 50 minutes, but the other 2 didn't. I went to ask to speak to a manager but was told there was not one on, but the two ladies at reception were dealing with things. I explained about our wait for food, now over an hour, and one lady said she would find out what was happening. By the time I was back at the table the final plates arrived, but I never saw the lady from reception again, no offer of apology etc. Three of the dishes ordered were a rice bowl, but none had any rice, and the third looked completely different to the other two.
The outdoor seating area resembled a prison exercise yard and the hotel is in very poor condition. One pane of glass in our bedroom window had been replaced with a sheet of plastic screwed in to the frame.
Overall a very poor experience, and not a cheap place either. It needs a major overhaul and staff training. The only good part was breakfast!!
