3-star hotel service and hospitality parading as a 5-star. The property itself is very beautiful and well-maintained, but the service and hospitality are seriously lacking. Itโs a coin toss whether youโll encounter a kind, professional hotel employee or a rude, dismissive one acting like youโre inconveniencing them by asking a simple question. Maybe the local workforce is dealing with tourism fatigue, but a true 5-star hotel should uphold consistent customer service and hospitality standards. If they canโt, they donโt deserve the 5-star rating.
For example, the onsite Italian restaurant, Paranza, refused to seat us at literally 9:02 PM, claiming seating ended at 9:00 PM. I politely mentioned I was a guest of the hotel and asked if that made a difference โ they laughed and said no. So we had to leave hungry.
On another occasion, I asked the pool attendant if the stack of towels was clean, and she rudely responded, โWhy would I put dirty towels here?โ To which I replied, โWell, theyโre so poorly folded I couldnโt tell if they were clean or not.โ Not exactly the kind of conversation you want to start your pool day with.
Overall, I might stay here again because of the number of on-site activities, but I wonโt be expecting to be treated well by the staff like Iโm accustomed to at other 5-star resorts.
