We chose this hotel because it was advertised as having a kitchenette. It does have a fridge, stove and microwave, but no pots, pans, dishes, cutlery, toaster or kettle. Nothing to cook with at all, and who packs all their cooking essentials when they travel? It is very misleading to say that it has a kitchenette. Additionally, we wanted to cancel the last of our three nights but got the run-around between Hotels.com and the front office. Both claimed the other didn't do their part and thus we could not cancel. And, guests are told they need to carry out their garbage at the end of their stay or face a charge of $20/bag. These are the features you can expect at accommodations listed as a hostel, not a hotel.

My stay was what I wanted. Less expensive but still within my needs. Will stay again when I have to go to Salem.

Itโs a pleasure staying at the Hometowne Studios for 4 nights without hassle, checked in near midnight, but very considerate, easy!
Place is about .07 miles to bars and restaurants so itโs pretty much walkable. Iโll definitely stay herr again whenever I go back to Salem.

The bed looked like a "hide away bed" but felt okay. I went to take a shower and the shower handle was closed so tightly that I was afraid of breaking it to turn it on. Found out after my shower that was because the shower head dripped and that was the only way to stop it. The key card I had only worked after 15-20 tries (every time) luckily my wife was in the room and could open the door if she heard me fumbling with the lock. I didn't try using her card, so I don't know if it would work better.

Not recommended.
It was mostly clean, but had a disinfectant smell. The room was really set up for a solo traveler. One night stand. One set of towels. The fridge is scratched and dented. The chairs had worn upholstery with stuffing coming out of the corners. For the price, you can do better.

Not for me
This property is less than a motel and more of providing long term stays up to a year.
The worst and cheapest bed was nothing more than a lumpy mattress on a metal frame. Not even an inner springs. They advertise no pets but the room next to mine had what looked like a pit bull sitting on the window sill, I noticed my message light on but no directions for retrieving it. I call the desk and she said "I think its #5" I tried and no luck. Later I found in the packet that it was just "5" I tried only to find all the messages were for previous occupants from several different stays. Front door latch would stick and twice I had to put my shoulder against the door to get it to release. The toilet wouldn't drain and had to call the maintenance people.

Lumpy pillows
It was a little run down. Most people staying there seemed like they were month long residents. The beds were not super comfortable and the pillows were lumpy.
