8/10 Very good

Friendly staff, clean, great meals, bed a bit small, but that’s what fits the room

6/10 Good

Not as nice as our last visit

We have stayed here before and our stay was great. This time our room was very small with limited natural light , the bed was comfy and the room and bathroom was clean and had the usual tea, coffee etc. The biggest complaint would be that there was a strange smell in the hallway leading to our room, dont quite know what it was but it wasnt pleasant. The staff were polite and the bar area was nice. I would stay here again but would book another room.

Great for a night away

It was a really comfortable and convenient place to stay whilst having a day/night catching up with friends

Staff good and amenable. Good facilities although perhaps a touch tired. Ran out of cask ales on Saturday afternoon.

Hotel close to town ,rooms nice and ours was spacious and clean.. Nice to have pub for drink and food. Only negative meals need be warmer

Small, clean and reasonable

The check-in staff was fantastic. She ensured we were welcome and checked in efficiently. The room was clean if small and too hot. Clean towels were available and discounts available through the blue light card. Enough condiments for two cuppas would have been welcomed, and maybe a biscuit. Overall, the room served its purpose as we stayed one night for the Christmas market.

Overall out stay was good, staff were friendly and really helpful, food waa great, room comfortable but....lots of paint chipping off the wall which waa really unsightly! Bathroom great, would stay again ut definitely not in room 11 unless redecorated!

Comfy Zone

It was comfortable stay with excellent food served down stairs. Clean rooms and Bathroom. Bathed or had a shower 2 x a day. Brilliant feeling fresh all the time. Did my shopping and other business. A excellent place to stay being only 5 mins from the centre. King kabs great for travel to and from the hotel. My second stay at the hotel.

Plenty of off street parking at no extra charge. A little out of town but only a 20 minute walk in to Chester centre or a £5 Uber. Co-op nearby for supplies. Room warm and clean. Perhaps a little more water pressure on the shower but still serviceable. Did not dine here but looked like usual pub grub on offer in any other Greene King outlet. Would certainly stay here again if back in Chester for the races or any other reason. Summing it up, a pleasurable, safe stay. Thank you team Oaklands

Oaklands Hotel

Jemma bar lovely - breakfast great - food reasonable - upgraded to room 10 however no drawers or wardrobe 3 hangers on wall exposed pipes made room hot - bathroom updated good - You could save on electricity as tvs and lights on early morning in lounge etc could turn off and section areas for eating am. Varnish on tables and other areas could be painted regularly for max effect. Tables sticky cleaning fluid perhaps/ however staff and all else fine. Comments for benefit of yourselves as worked in leisure all working life. Minimum attention for maximum rewards Thanks

You know what you are getting

For £75 and for one night it was perfect. I like the busy aspect of the pub downstairs. Typical Hungry Horse so you know what you are getting. Loads of TV's with the football on. Nice pint, and typical pub grub. Hotel aspect is a bit different. Nothing like a holiday inn or Premier in, but perfectly acceptable for the price. Not a place for a romantic weekend, but for a night at work ok. I was in Room 5 which was probably the largest physical room I have ever seen. Bed was comfortable, but duvet was thinner than I would have liked. Little bit tired around the edges, but again for the cost all ok and free parking. Breakfast was limited, but for £9 I left feeling full. I would stop again.

Basic and not worth the price paid for the Accm

The room was not with the price paid - very basic and definitely in need of refurb. Not as clean as it should be. Also tables for breakfast downstairs but cleaned to a high standard - doors and windows as well

Oaklands is on the outskirts of the centre of Chester. Bus stops are close by but it's also a nice walk (25mins or so) to the start of the city walls. Parking is available both at the front and rear with plenty of spaces and no extra charge. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and the room was comfortable, clean and quiet. An enjoyable short stay to explore Chester.
Janice, 2-night trip

2/10 Poor

I booked a dooble room and a family room with three single beds. Double room was ok, but the family room was also a double room. I complained at reception and showed her our booking. Although the staff at recption were helpful the manager was not. She tried to deflect the situation by saying we checked in late. There was no time limit to check in on my phone. Its the fourth time we had stayed there and there was no issues about late check in on all occasions. She said you can you use the sofa as it doubles as a single bed, but we had to make the bed ourselves. Luckily one of my friends couldn't make the trip otherwise he wouldnt of had a bed to himself

Great place to stay.

A great place to stay. Great room. Plenty of space. Food in the hotel was good quality and very reasonably priced. We used this as a base for travel into Liverpool.
Susan, 3-night trip

2/10 Poor

Staff are nice and the room was okay. Sadly, my experience the hotel was full of workmen who lock themselves out drunk in the middle of the night, shouting and talking to their mates like they’re on holiday. Awful breakfast deep-fried mushrooms and an obliterated microwave scrambled egg. Won’t be going back there again.
Marcus, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Good location - staff friendly and helpful - room lightening very dull to read anything only bathroom light bright - no lifts only stairs - beds were small I was frightened to turn over incase I fell out of bed - seems an old building g needs a refurb to modernise it - windows didn’t open to stay open enough to get signing and radiators in a timer room very warm- otherwise it served the purpose glad we only stayed 1 night

Clean & large room value for money

Stayed overnight room large & comfortable with everything you needed. Clean bedding & towels. Bonus of the large pub underneath. Value for money food & drink. Loved the large tvs showing all football games. Could do with security lights up the side when leaving in the dark ! Large car park straight on the main road. Thank you will stay again
