The staff at check-in and checkout were very friendly. However the room smelled of cigarette smoke, part of the carpet was missing on the floor, you could see cigarette burns throughout the room, and the bathroom shower curtian rod was broken.

My husband and I stayed the Friday night of Labor Day weekend. My main problems were 1) There was a small roach in the bathroom. 2) they advertised Breakfast Included, however, what was provided was coffee, juice and a granola bar.

Clean, Comfortable and Budget-Friendly

The location is a bit further from the beach than I expected, but thats because I didn't realize there are 2 Howard Johnsons in Virginia Beach. There were a few minor maintenance issues, but overall we were pleased. It was clean and comfortable! The staff was friendly and we appreciated the complimentary coffee, juice and breakfast snacks. Given the moderate price, I'd give a thumbs up and would book again.

The location of the property is perfect. Lots of options around. The rooms were not very please. The staff was kind enough to let us see different options as our first one smelled moldy and the toilet seat was old and looked dirty. Most other rooms smelled old as well.
