Hotel was a little ways up from the train station, but it was flat, so no worries! Stairs are a bit narrow and step, so if you’re like me and have mobility issues, be sure to ask for a room on the first floor. Location is prime! Would stay there again.

Good rooms, typical of rooms above a pub

Generally nice and comfortable, no real issues appart from wall paper in the bathroom is peeling off the wall.

6/10 Good

First up, the beds were clean and super comfortable so was happy about that. What we really couldn't cope with was the fact that we couldn't open any windows in a 32° heatwave. It was absolutely sweltering in the room. We were given two tiny desk fans which didn't help much. The bathroom was unpleasant and had peeling plaster on the walls and a mouldy shower curtain. The pub itself is dirty and unloved. We used to use the Dovey Inn twenty years ago or so and it was always homely and we'll kept. It doesn't look like Marston's taking over has done anything to improve it, rather the opposite. Patio area outside was filthy and unkempt, glasses left on tables for ages. Was really disappointed to see the decline of this once lovely seaside pub. The staff were lovely, I did raise the issues with the last who checked me out, who was lovely. For just under £300 for two nights, I feel ripped off.

Lovely Place!

We booked Dovey Inn for an amazing price for a family room (in July!!) for myself and my friends, while attending an event during a short holiday. I didn't realise we would get a sea view with the room - it was exceptional! Check in was quick and the staff were wonderful. Our accommodation was spacious and clean, with two bedrooms so we each had our own space. Both rooms had connecting doors to the bathroom, which was useful so not to disturb eachother during the night. We had pretty much everything we needed for our stay, and with it being above a pub, we had access to breakfast, lunch and dinner options at will. There wasn't breakfast with the room price unfortunately, but gave us the option anyway. The food was really good when we ate there. The only niggles we had were the sticky doors for the secondary room - the doors to the bathroom and main room often got stuck and took force to open. Also, the locks on the bathroom doors didn't work. You could easily unlock them by just using the handles as normal. While the room was fairly modern, there was some aesthetic wear to skirtings and a superficial crack in the bathroom sink. It was great to have air con, but sometimes it would loudly hum at random, often every 30 seconds, sometimes not. Irritating the first night, but we got used to it. Also, beware of Thursday Quiz night if you're on the first floor. It's loud and reverberates through the floor. All in all, Aberdovey was gorgeous! Amazing beach, too!

6/10 Good

Great staff, marston’s penny pinching.

The staff were excepted I couldn’t fault the manager for how hard we worked to solve the problem with the super loud aircon unit. However, this is a Marston’s owned chain so everything about it is cheap except the price. Cold shower, stuffy room, tired fittings. But….comfy bed and super location. So it’s not all doom and gloom.

8/10 Very good

Great views, comfy.

Stayed here for a weekend event at the Talyllyn Railway in Tywyn - chosen as it was close to the station and other amenities. Had a pleasant stay, no noise from bar other than some rowdy guest arriving early morning for a few minutes. Lovely view of the beach, close to cafes and shops. Short walk to the beach and not too far for the train station. Only issue was the shower being too hot with no obvious way to cool the temperature, AC in room was a little noisy at random times - but I got used to this on second night. Overall a pleasant stay.
4-night trip

8/10 Very good

Lovely setting

The hotel is a fully functional pub and hotel. This was not a problem for me. Clean room, friendly staff, comfortable bed and a great view from my window over a beautiful coastal bay. The only issue I had was that the shower temperature was difficult to control.
