The hotel is old, the operators have done a nice job updating the rooms and they are comfortable and clean. Helpful front desk. I would stay here again. Very reasonable room rate.

The property was fine for myself, not so good for my wife, it was small, but did what it needed to do.

Fantastic little hotel

Charming little hotel in the heart of Castlegar. The owner greeted me and got me checked in. She was very nice and personable. She offered me croissants and other baked goods for breakfast. I wish I had spent more than one night.

Not what I expected but that's not a bad thing!

It was a weird experience, in general but it was very quiet and really clean is spite of the age of everything! It was pretty cool overall tho, and the staff was quite nice as well!

property is very aged and probably should be torn down

Old but cleaned! We couldn’t start the heating system so it was cold. The reception lady was lovely and easy access to the kitchen

It’s a case of you get what you pay for. It’s an older property and definitely showing its’ age. We loved the area and the downtown is trying to make a revival. The sculpture walk was fun and the museum was great. It was relatively clean, it had working AC, the shower/water pressure was good, the bed was fine and everything worked and we had a self serve continental breakfast. The property definitely has some quirks but we liked it. It has the potential to be a wonderful rejuvenated property. I hope it can get there!

It is an older place, however it has all the amenities. The owner/host was delightful and works really hard to maintain the building, keep it clean and offer accommodations to travellers. Overall, the great customer service and wonderful people made me return. She was very accommodating - i arrived very early and she ensured I would be able to get in fast. Really lovely.

2/10 Poor

I had to cancel the reservation because the place was unsafe, dirty and dark, nobody was at the front desk to talk when I arrived. And it looked scary to go around. I looks like a shelter, not like a hotel at all. I was so disappointed, and their add was misleading. I called to Expedia to cancel this reservation, I hope the did it.
Diana, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

Photos online very misleading. Building was charming but very old. No elevator, no AC in the room - temps were in the 30s, bed very soft. Owner very nice but i would not reccomend a stay there at the price charged
Lori, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Really friendly service but no breakfast like mentioned when booking. No milk for coffee on the first day. Pretty old building so we could hear people walking above us a few times. Is that why the tv was black and white? Also the hot water tank is probably connected with other units cause we were losing hot water while showering in the morning. And my partner used the toilet when i was in the shower and i almost got boiled. Internet work on phones but not on laptop. Beds were very comfy tho.

4/10 Fair

It is a classic old school hotel ...
sam, 8-night trip

2/10 Poor

If you want to find a place where there is no sleep this is the place, everything makes noises and you can hear everyone, place is very outdated place with moldy smells and old and cringy bathroom, they kick you out by 10 am, so no chance to try to recuperate from the sleepless night I would never stay here ever again!!!!
Angel, 1-night trip

Nice Folks, quiet Stay but needs major Reno.

The people who worked there were lovely and helpful the the hotel needs to be updated and hopefully they will do so as they can afford to but the actual room was clean and tidy and the the mattress was comfortable. And it was $40 a night cheaper than anything else. The hotel was in the old downtown core of Castlegar and had several good restaurants and a pharmacy almost next door. Even though it was “downtown” it was really quite quiet. I would stay again.

Classic, large family-owned Chamelon hotel

It is worth calling the hotel directly, this is a small town and staffing hours are very thin as hotel employees juggle other jobs. However, they are super welcoming and made our check-in incredibly smooth, even at 11pm. Continental, serve-yourself breakfast was included near the front desk, where the coffee maker is located (not in the room). Downsides were the mattress (soft, I like firm), poor sound proofing I suspect, creaky floors- the building is very old. The latter could be a plus. Very fresh smell, silky sheets, newly renovated room, mini fridge for less than $100/night. So happy I chose it. Next time I would book with the hotel directly, I think the price is the same.
Claire, 1-night trip

they did not stay there was real bad If I was Expedia I would remove from you list

Perfect for the price

Extremely kind and approachable staff. Comfortable beds. Very good value for the price. Only nitpick is that the water pressure in the shower was rather weak
