Learn more about Matnog

While in the area, you can learn more about the local history by visiting sites including St james the Greater Church.

One of the best beaches we have visited in the Philippines. The sand is white and pink and powdery. To get to the island, you need to hire a boat from the Port of Matnog. The boat will take you island hopping. One of the stops is a fish sanctuary. And your final destination is the Subic Beach on the Calintaan Island - where you can stay overnight or stay for the day. Your boat will pick you up and take you back to the port. We rented a room by the beach, some opted to hire a tent. This might not be the same next time we go back as there are rumours that a big resort bought a piece of the island. #Philippines #islandlife #beach #endlesssummer

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Matnog

  1. Book for the cheapest times: If you're looking for an affordable getaway, consider visiting Matnog in January, August, or November when hotel prices are typically lower. A stay of at least 3 days is recommended to fully appreciate the area's key landmarks, cultural sites, and natural attractions. You can explore beaches known for fishing, enjoy parks, and visit sandy shores that are perfect for surfing. Just keep in mind that some beaches may have dangerous access points, lack lifeguards, or are not blue flag accredited. For those interested in adventure, there are opportunities for diving and snorkeling, but be aware of hidden rock hazards. Overall, Matnog offers great value for money for budget-conscious travelers.
  2. Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To discover last-minute deals to Matnog, start by checking the DealsOpens in a new window or Last-Minute Deals section on Hotels.com, where you may find discounted hotel rates close to your travel date. You could also enable email alerts or push notifications to stay updated on flash sales and special promotions, helping you seize opportunities to save. Additionally, the app's Smart Shopping feature allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you're informed about the best options available. If prices drop or rooms become available, you’re more likely to see it first, allowing for a spontaneous getaway.
  3. Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate based on factors like the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates might help you save on your stay in a Matnog hotel. If you're seeking a distinctive experience, boutique hotels can provide a more personalized touch and sometimes offer better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we’ll inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price is on the higher side, we’ll recommend more budget-friendly dates that could help you secure a better deal.
  4. Consider your location: Staying closer to major attractions or downtown areas can be convenient, but it often comes with a higher price tag. For more budget-friendly options, you might look into hotels in less central neighborhoods, finding a balance between cost and accessibility to the sites you want to visit. Exploring independent hotels a bit farther out can also lead to a more authentic and usually more affordable experience.
