"Very easy process to self check in, room spotless, great free drinks options, excellent breakfast (would recommend getting double portion of 'toast', which is delivered to your door at specified time (you must choose order before 11pm). Great location next to lake front. Would def stay again 😎"

"When it comes to high class Japanese amenities, there is a sliding scale of quality, with the nearby sister hotel Shinyu just one step below Sui Suwako. This place is excellent, and I mean it. It might even be too fancy for your tastes if waiting for someone to retrieve your shoes before you go out makes you anxious. But if you're looking to relax and have a table side dinner and breakfast prepared for you, and if you like spacious rooms and private onsen, you will enjoy staying here. This is...

"Great location that just next to the lake Suwa. Luckily we can enjoy the Sakura on the riverside through the window of our room.
The service for breakfast and dinner is good and thanks for the recommendation of the staff, Yu, for going to see the Sakura in a castle park nearby. That’s amazing."

"Good, compact business hotel especially for the price. Older property but well maintained and room has all the amenities you’ll need (tea, kettle, mini-fridge, slippers, toothbrush + paste, comb, q-tips, etc.). Check in lady was great & explained everything. Hotel also provides printouts explaining things in english."

"This hotel is located close to a main road in this district. So many cars are driven in day time, but to stay here was pleasant because there is not too much sounds in tgg. A mac is next to this hotel and other restaurants are around this hotel. A Big temple is closed this hotel."

"A really old-fashioned Japanese onsen experience like nothing else. We ate in the Japanese restaurant one night and French the other evening. The food was fantastic. Rooms were comfortable but old fashioned. I would highly recommend the room with a private onsen - we saw tanuke (Japanese raccoon dogs) approach whilst we were bathing which was a really special experience. We hiked to the ridge (5 hours return) through a beautiful forest."

"Easy to park. Wife would give it 4 stars. 6 yr old would give 5 stars for the rock climbing wall. No lift for 2nd floor rooms and would have life more space to open suitcases but overall nice place to stay."

"The resort is surrounded by nature, very quiet and peaceful - perfect if that’s what you’re looking for. It can be a bit inconvenient without a car, but there’s a bus stop right in front of the hotel that runs at specific times and goes to the nearest train station, Shiojiri. The owner was very kind and even offered to pick me up and drop me off at the station, and he also took me to visit the old town, Narai-juku.

"My husband and I stayed at the Richmond hotel for two nights. It’s in a great location, and the rooms were reasonably priced and clean. The staff were really kind, and helped organise luggage forwarding to our next hotel. Our only bugbear was that we could hear other people on the floor - they were pretty loud. It would be great to have had a little more sound proofing. "
"Nice hotel, friendly and very helpful staff. Hotel is very close to the beautiful Matsumoto Castle. Further walk to the station (about 15 minutes), and to restaurants, but overall I liked it."
