Beautiful location, excellent service, food was amazing, great choice of ales, wine, gin and cider. The bed was also very comfortable, slept like a log!

I loved the location and the atmosphere in the pub, it was very cosy. The bathroom was a bit small.

Atmosphere, good service, tasty food, lovely room. So, it's a bit careworn in places, but who cares when the location is wonderful.

Great cosy bar/lounge space with fab woodburner. Being old the stairs are narrow and incredibly steep. It was a struggle to go up/down with cases, even though both were cabin bag size. This needs to be made clearer on publicity.

6/10 Good

Great service but needs more attention to detail.

At first glance the room looked lovely but we soon realised that there was a slight lack of cleanliness and attention to detail: There were short black hairs on the toilet seat, six large spiders throughout our room and numerous webs, the curtains didn't fit the bedroom window properly, the curtains in the bathroom were very see through and the light above the bathroom mirror did not work. We were also woken up four times throughout the night by loud bangs, which turned out to be the slats in the bed falling out! The free WiFi was a big plus for us but unfortunately it did not work in our room. The television was miniscule but we didn't have time to watch it anyway so that wasn't an issue for us personally. However, the staff were very friendly and we were offered fresh milk on arrival to go with the tea and coffee facilities, which even included a Tassimo machine and various coffee and hot chocolate pods. The guest book was very informative and included menus for lunch and dinner. The inn is very well situated and our room had a beautiful view over the river. The room itself was very spacious and practical, and there was a good choice of food for breakfast in the morning.

The place is a bit in need of some TLC, but the staff were frinedly and the food and beer were good.

Flying visit

Lovely spot, good food, large clean rooms (keep your windows closed with the lights on at night) and excellent staff.

We loved the setting of the Inn next to the river, with river views from our rooms. The staff were so friendly and considerate of our needs. The rooms were clean and comfortable.

8/10 Very good

Location was great, food was decent, staff were a pleasure. Main gripe is the age and condition of the mattress/bedding. While money has clearly been spent in part bringing the ancient building up to a modern standard. I have had better nights sleep on wooden floors! The matress itself was very old and tired and in desparate need of replacing.

Wow! Could not be a more idillic location! The accommodation is beautiful and has everything you need. The tassimo coffee machine in the room was a real treat! The food is amazing and all local suppliers are used. The staff were friendly and we felt very looked after - I wish we were staying a lot longer! We couldn’t recommend this place enough and can’t wait to return.

Full of character and comfortable.

Superb location, very nice pub and very friendly helpful staff. Bed big and comfortable. Small bathroom but adequate. Pub food OK, breakfast during the week very, very good. Only minor improvement needed for the room clean..dirty cups, tea, coffee not replaced on a couple of days but not that big a deal. Very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.

Lovely pub on the river

Stayed as a middle aged couple for one night. Welcome was great when we popped in for lunch before checking in. I try to do this in case there's any difference in customer service. There wasn't, it was great. Lunch was good and the beer was good. Check in was easy, staff were great. Dinner was great and service was great, bed was great, the ensuite was tight but its an old building, it all worked and I fitted in (I'm 15 stone). Breakfast was great and check out great. Location - you guessed it, was great!

Out the way but worth finding

What a find, I stayed here enroute from Leeds to Swansea and I am so pleased I did. The room was great, clean and up together. The service from the staff was great and the view from my window in the morning was something else (I arrived after dark). I ate there and the food was reasonably priced but of an excellent standard. The regulars were friendly. I can't sing the praises of here enough

Beautiful location as close to river Wye.

Stunning views of river Wye. Staff very friendly and helpful. Delicious breakfast. My only criticism is we didn't have control of heating the room. I had to go down to bar to ask staff to turn heating on. However this was done instantly. Also the walls are thin as my partner and I could hear TV next door. Overall, I would return and recommend.

Spectacular location

The Old Ferrie Inn is in a beautiful spot - right on the river Wye and the views are spectacular. The pub has an excellent riverside area to sit by. The rooms are very nicely appointed and they provide good facilities like a Tassimo coffee maker etc. Breakfast was good. The pub itself could do with a bit of a refurb. There are also nice pubs nearby.

Lovely old hotel - but!

Amazing situation next to the river. Very [very] old building so there has to be a lot of give in the amenities. The bedroom was very small but contained the hand basin. The towels however were in the shower room. Two criticisms of room. The mastic was missing around a good part of the shower cubicle and the area had gone black. Staff must have known about this as it didn’t happen overnight. Time to fix about 20 mins. Attention to detail - zero. The small wardrobe door just didn’t fit. Why not? The staircase up was steep and narrow and a section of carpet was loose. Again the staff are up and down all day - why wasn’t it fixed before someone has a nasty accident? Attention to detail again! The breakfast menu showed fresh fruit - ah no! Also no yoghurt; not on the menu but available almost everywhere else. The bread had been frozen and was still icy on first morning but we’ll past its best before date. Same bag the next day and even more beyond best before date. The menu for dinner the first night was disappointing and I struggled to find anything that appealed so we ate elsewhere the next night and fared far better. The overall impression i came away with was the place was a bit tired (having made allowance for the building age) and nobody cared any more. There was no one there paying attention to detail for some reason. It was as if the staff were saying the building is old so we needn’t bother about the rest. The WiFi was also very slow and difficult to connect.
