First we were given a room that was dirty (cups, food containers, crumbs, unmade bed). Then we were given a new room without a working code to get into the building and room. We were promised to get a new code later that evening but never received one. We were also told there’d be a person working the front desk all night. After returning from a concert, we couldn’t get into the building. We eventually got in the lobby but were stuck. Not a soul was to be found working at this place. We called the listed number around 20 times and never heard back from anyone. Others were also stuck outside of their rooms for the same reason. I tried a random email address and finally got a new code. This was after about an hour of being stuck in the lobby (after midnight). I would never ever stay here again and will warn others about staying at this hotel. By far the most poorly run hotel I’ve ever witnessed.

It was a cold night in Pittsburgh, and the heat was not working in the hotel. Since there doesn't seem to be anyone there at night, there was no way to get extra blankets. I did text them a couple times and left a voicemail. I didn't hear back from anyone until the next morning. I also ran into another guest who was locked out all night. Again, they don't seem to have the place staffed at night, and the keypad wasn't working, so they were locked out.

The room was excellent, very comfortable and spacious. The most annoying thing for us was the lack of a coffee bar. Nada! And when you’re serious about morning coffee, that was annoying!

The room is pretty great! But we were told we were gonna be sent the information for check in before check in so we went out waiting and by 4:30 heard nothing. I’ve called several times and it kept telling me to leave a voicemail, I even texted and emailed too trying to figure out anything I could. Finally they answered my call and said we would get check in information when we got there instead.

Despite several trips to the front desk I was never able to get a working entry code for my door. I was locked outside for almost half an hour, and then stuck inside unable to get into my room for over 45 minutes. Security guard was very nice but mentioned this can happen due to wifi issues. Extremely frustrating paying for a hotel and not being able to get in, or get into your room. Tried to contact hotels.com and was continually redirected to the hotel itself. I called the hotel a total of 28 times throughout this experience without success. Phone was never answered when I was stuck unable to get into my room at 1030 at night. I walked the premises to find the security guard myself. This experience was such that I would never stay here again, and I am frustrated with hotels.com customer service as I do not believe I should have to pay for this night. If you want to do right by your customer. Contact me.

Beautiful historic building that was originally the train station, perfectly convenient for taking Amtrak or any events at the convention center. No food bar or room service available however.

We were here for Pittsburgh Unified Auditions for high school student to find college acting and musical theatre programs. Because of a scheduling glitch, I found myself needing last minute accommodations. The staff at Placemaker were compassionate and kind as I had to move our stuff from one hotel to this one as my daughters were auditioning. I cannot thank them enough for making this situation easy for me. The unit we stayed in had everything we needed and was close enough for us to walk to everywhere we needed to be. Thank you!

Very close to downtown (the strip district) area), the botanical gardens is not to far either ! Only thing that kinda sucks is trying to find the parking lot but we ended up finding it ! Very clean !

My room was very clean with a beautiful city view. The space is well thought out and very comfortable. There are also a lot of walkable shops and restaurants. Check-in was a little awkward as there was an event in front of the main entrance that I had to walk through with my luggage and speak very loudly over while checking in. Overall it was a nice getaway experience.

When we checked into the hotel, we were treated extremely rudely. The door was broken, so the PIN code did not work, yet we never received a key until the moment we checked out. Because of this, we were unable to properly join our evening tour. The staff member who assisted us was very disrespectful, which made us feel very uncomfortable. When we said we would speak to the manager, he even lied by claiming that he was the manager. His behavior ruined our short trip. For this reason, we are demanding a full refund from the hotel.

Highly recommend! The property was great - with the stunning lobby, fast elevators, and clean, bright unit. Check was not required (after completing the online process & getting my code). The fully furnished apartment with lots of kitchen appliances & coffee! Bed was firm & comfortable, shower was hot with lots of pressure. It even had a washer/dryer. Great location - near restaurants & it really felt like it was connected to the city. Everyone (desk clerk, valet & manager) was friendly & helpful. Finding the parking was a challenge - I suggest calling ahead for directions to the garage.

It was a difficult time getting in to park - there were no clear instructions, and their main portico was blocked off for a wedding the next day. We were let in by Valet, who wasn't supposed to let us get in until we had a code, but we couldn't park anywhere to get in to get said code. Once inside, the onsite person was friendly, but clueless. We actually had to help him check us in. A little embarrassing, but we got in. The unit was very clean! The space was perfect for our stay.

Terrible!

To begin just trying to find the hotel is very time consuming since they have no signs that show where the hotel is. Our GPS kept on stating we have arrived when we did not know where the hotel is due to lack of signage. We went to the garage to access the valet parking and they told us we had to check in first. I asked the person to call the front desk and let them know we are here....she stated "we don't do that". So we checked in and now had "permission" to use the valet parking. After entering the room we noticed our WIFI did not work and neither did the TV. Also, there were no sheets, pillows or blanket for the pull out sofa. Since there was no phone we had to go to the front desk to bring attention to this lack of services. A maintenance man was suppose to come to our room for the TV and in 2 days he never showed up. We were told by the front desk person on Sunday at 6pm he was no longer in the building and would be back tomorrow.....we were leaving the next day. There is lack of communication and customer service. They need to get their collective act together and provide better for the hotel guests. Needless to say I will not be coming back to Placemakr and Hotels should reconsider using this hotel on it's webiste.

The building is beautiful but unfortunately not well maintained. Hallways were hot and dirty and staff always eating at that the check in or watching YouTube. Building needs to be better cleaned and maintained. Parking is 25.00 a day!!! They should key guests know beforehand.
