Great stay right on the beach

Fabulous location! We had room 101, which overlooks the Strand. It was a little noisy on the weekend (which the very nice man who checked us in made us aware of beforehand), but the views and location made up for it. Room was clean, but just know that the hotel is older, which adds some charm to, I think! The man at the front was very helpful and accomodating, even delivering a corkscrew to our room one night when we forgot one. All in all, a great experience!

What a great property right on the strand. Is it the Ritz, no. It’s an old building with a lot of charm and well kept. Jay and staff are amazing and very responsive. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Highly recommend.

I had such an amazing stay here. The building is a bit older, but it still has that vintage charm. We were upgraded to the deluxe sweet! It was soooo nice! Clean and accommodating. The views were so nice too! The beach is literally a 2 minute walk from the hotel and its about a 5 minute walk to all kinds of bars and restaurants. The staff was helpful, friendly, and super knowledgeable not only of the hotel but of the area as well. It was everything we wanted and more. Will definitely be coming back!

The location is unbeatable; we absorbed the pulse of the strand while enjoying our morning coffee and evening sunset happy hour while viewing this magnificent South Bay area of SOCAL. The experience truly felt like our home and we enjoyed the relaxed, charming vibe that the Vurpillat exudes....It was one memorable trip that we both cherish. It was indeed-difficult to leave....

We had a fantastic stay at this beautifully restored 1923 hotel. The location is unbeatable—right on the beach and just steps from great restaurants and shops. The historic charm has been thoughtfully preserved, and the staff were incredibly kind and accommodating throughout my visit. While the room wasn’t very soundproof and got a bit warm, these were minor issues compared to the overall experience. Never have I felt so welcomed and looked after on vacation as I did at the Vurpillat! Thank you, Jay, for your wonderful hospitality. Another highlight of this charming hotel is its location, close to everything that beautiful Hermosa has to offer. I didn’t want to leave! Highly recommended.

Besides Apple Maps getting us lost the place was great. Great location right on beach. Staff was all great really friendly and helpful. Even got us on site parking. Really helpful of a busy week at the beach. Place was showing its age but can’t beat the location on beach with many shops and restaurants all around.

Loved our week at the Vurpillat! The staff was very accommodating and welcoming. Super helpful with parking and any requests. The rooms are clean and comfortable and we loved the vintage vibe. Some updating could be done but the imperfections add to the charm. We’ll be back!
