Very unpleasant check in experience. Incompetent member of staff on reception with little to no knowledge of the hotel and demanded a deposit payment - despite the booking stating only tourist tax would be required at the property. I am a solo female traveller who was travelling on business, checking in late in the evening and really didn’t appreciate the way I was spoken to, the fact I had already paid for the room in full but was refused the room key until I handed over a deposit payment that wasn’t specified on my booking clearly - and to add to this, the lady on reception had no knowledge of how this deposit can be refunded if you did not own a credit card or an EU bank account (I was travelling from UK and only had a virtual company credit card with me.. which they refused to use for the deposit - despite this same card being the one used to pay for the room itself). I was very upset and stressed by the experience until management was available the next day to speak to and resolve the issue.
The room was comfortable enough for a very short stay, but I would not stop here again and urge solo travellers to avoid this hotel. The room has no sound proofing it was incredibly noisy the entire time, banging from the room above, noise from outside the window etc, sounds of water running through pipework from neighbouring bathrooms. The bathroom had an awful smell coming from it, and during breakfast hours the entire hotel and my own room smelt of cooked food e.g. bacon/smoke.
