The hotel itself is decent, though the location feels a bit questionable. Unfortunately, the front desk staff (especially the older man) were not welcoming and seemed to lack basic customer service skillsโthere was no greeting upon arrival and no acknowledgment when spoken to. I canโt say for certain, but as a researcher observing interactions, I couldnโt help but wonder if my experience might have been different had I not been a person of color. While Iโm not making unfounded accusations, the lack of warmth and professionalism left me questioning. My suggestion: show a bit more warmth, especially toward guests of color, as our experiences abroad may be shaped by different histories, emotions, and cultural contexts.
The ladies at the restaurant, the gentleman at the lounge, the housekeepers were fantastic.
