Le Château de Levroux fut afliegé & pris par le Roy Philippe Augufte, l'an 1188. pendant les Guerres de France & d'Angleterre. Durant le Siège il arriva une chofe affez remarquable, & que les Hitoriens du temps n’ont pas oubliée. ll y avoit un torrent devant le Château , où il y avoit ordinairement grande abondance d'eau, qui pour lors étoit à fec à caufe des excessives chaleurs , de maniere que l'Armée étoit grandement incommodée , faute d'eau , pour faire boire les Soldats , & pour abreuver les chevaux ; alors contre l'attente de tout le monde , il furvint une telle abondance d'eau , que les chevaux en avoient jufques aux fangles , & par ce moyen les Afliegeans eurent de: quoy appaifer leur foif & abreuver leurs chevaux, ce qui fut reputé pour miracle, Le Roy s’étant rendu Maître de la Place , en fit don à fon Coufin fils du Comte Thibaud de Champagne.
